Public clarification - Installation of cameras in the capital of Kosovo - Prishtina

With the aim of inter-institutional coordination, namely ensuring the protection of personal data of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, the Leaders of the Institutions, Mrs. Krenare Sogojeva-Dermaku, Commissioner of the Agency for Information and Privacy (AIP), Mr. Basri Shabani, Director of the Regional Directorate in Pristina - Kosovo Police (PK) and Mr. Lulzim Fushtica, Security and Emergency Director of the Capital of Kosovo-Prishtina, met to discuss the installation of cameras in the Capital-Prishtina.
The request for the purchase and installation of cameras within public spaces in the Capital, which aims to maintain order and public safety, prevent and detect criminal offenses, identify, find and capture perpetrators of criminal offenses, as well as achieve other legal objectives police, was made by the Kosovo Police, addressed to the Capital - Pristina.
The project with the technical specifications has been prepared by the Working Group composed of members from the Police of Kosovo and the Capital.
Monitoring of the camera surveillance system will be done by the Kosovo Police, as well as the technical infrastructure of the equipment, storage and supervision will be provided by the Kosovo Police.
The data recording system, which will be made by these cameras, will create the possibility of statistical evaluations, without including the processing of biometric characteristics, and their management will be done only by the Kosovo Police on the basis of its legal authorizations.
The leaders of the institutions of Kosovo Information and Privacy Agency, Mrs. Krenare Sogojeva-Dermaku, Commissioner of the Agency for Information and Privacy (AIP), Mr. Basri Shabani, Director of the Regional Directorate in Pristina - Kosovo Police (PK) and Mr. Lulzim Fushtica, Director of Security and Emergency of the Capital of Kosovo-Prishtina, Prishtina have pledged to ensure that the implementation of the project will be carried out in full harmony with the relevant legislation in force.
The Information and Privacy Agency assures the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo that, based on the legal mandate, it will monitor the implementation of this project to ensure the implementation of the Law on Personal Data Protection, including the inspection of the implementation of the project.
